Dr. Vimal Chopra, MD, PhD, FRCA. Retired as Section Head Anesthesiology from Leiden University Medical Center after a forty-year stellar career. Now a freelance anesthesiologist. Champion of patient safety—kicked off Safety in Anaesthesia in 1987, pinpointed human error as key culprit.
Crafted checklists, invented Leiden Anaesthesia Simulator prototype for training and teaching in 1992. This pioneering research work earned him a PhD from Leiden University in 1994. Founded Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine—SESAM—in 1994, serving as its its first President for four years. Recently joined Stichting Present Zoetermeer’s management board voluntarily. Trustee Director Trusteeship Affairs at Foundation for Critical Choices for India. Bringing steady, expert guidance wherever needed.
